Is There Such a Thing As Soulmates?

“Quoi” I say..”What are you talking about….there is no such thing as a soul mate..that just exist in the movies..besides what the heck does a soul mate look like?” I think most of us have a romantic idea of what a “soul mate” looks like. One that looks like Charlize Theron (in my mind) or maybe for you..looks like Ryan Reynolds or Vin Diesel

(which apparently is funny to some people that I think Vin Diesel is good looking..I still don’t know why not because I think he is very good looking … with that piranha jaw of his).  So really what exactly is the definition of a “soul mate”. As I scourer the internet, I have come across the following definitions:

“A soulmate is someone who has locks that fits our keys, and keys that fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are.”
“Soul mates complete each other. A person is unable to complete his mission in life alone. Everyone needs someone to help them become a better person.”
“A very deep soul attraction, an instant “KNOWING” of your fate, an uplifting of spirit and a surge of energy from within. Both people in this relationship feel the same!”

Of the three examples above, the only one that speaks to me is the third one. The one where you just know that it’s the right person and it UPLIFTS your spirit and makes you feel like you can do anything and succeed WITHOUT sacrificing anything. I truly believe that the perfect soulmate will only come to someone if each have done their personal house cleaning work and have both gotten rid of their personal baggage so they are each

whole again. We cannot really enjoy a fully amazing soul mate relationship if we are missing any part of ourselves. We must reclaim all the missing pieces that we have lost along the way in our existence. Find ourselves..reclaim ourselves..love ourselves fully. And at that point can we really find our soul mate. Because after all, a soulmate relationship should be about amplifying who we are, and not about trying to find pieces of ourselves that are missing in each other.
